Developing Zero Carbon Cement for a more sustainable environment

Our Mission

Our mission is simple - to treat all the available tile and sanitaryware waste material into our zero carbon cement alternative, for the benefit of the marine and construction industry.

Sponsorship and R&D

  • NICER – Sponsored by Innovate UK and Exeter University as R&D partner –Re cycling used and unused porcelain and ceramic tiles and sanitaryware into a Supplementary cementitious material.
  • SFIS – Sponsored by Welsh Government – Feasibility and business case of locating a site for recycling tiles and sanitaryware in Wales.
  • Aberthaw, use of Porcement and Fly Ash blends as a sustainable building material with Cardiff University as the R&D partner – Sponsored by CCR – Looking at treatment of 18 million tonnes of AFA with Porcement powder.

Problem

  • In the UK alone there is circa 100,000 Tn per year of unused, and 800,000 Tn per year of used porcelain ceramic or sanitaryware to landfill of used as  aggregate.
  • There is no known at scale tile or sanitaryware recycling facility anywhere.
  • Portland cement is highly energy intensive, responsible for about 8% of  CO2 emissions.
  • UK imports circa 6,000,000tn of GGBS, which is unsustainable.

Solution

  • We are launching a circular economy initiative and targeting 250,000 Tn per year.
  • Focused on porcelain, ceramics and sanitaryware as a zero almost Carbon sustainable alternative to cement.
  • In partnership with Exeter University, Innovate UK, Cardiff University and the Welsh Government and our business collaborators (Cubex, Arc Marine), we have successfully processed porcelain waste tiles into powder, as a substitute for cement.
  • Our solution allows for the replacement of 20% of Portland cement producing a 19.2% reduction in CO2. LCA in Index. Or we can replace 75% of GGBS with PORCEMENT powder.
  • Significant environmental advantages while maintaining mechanical and physical properties.
  • We can benefit from Carbon Credits per tonne offset and Patent Box Corp Tax of 10% for 20 years.
  • We know legislation is pushing for a zero-landfill solution.

Market and Interest to date

  • Research demonstrates that the market values the CO2 benefits and 50% are willing to pay a premium.
  • We are a registered Supply Chain partner for the Second Dartford Crossing (National Highways) and with successful trials for Tata in Port Talbot, involving approximately 50,000 tonnes of the total 800,000 tonnes.
  • We have registered the Patent for the powder product and the process UK and Europe.
  • We have demonstrated there is the capacity for large-scale production.
  • We have secured 10,000 tonnes with an option for an additional 30,000 tonnes, in discussion about access to another 70,000 tonnes and with Topps Tiles and Original Styles on board, we can guarantee a minimum ongoing tonnage.
  • We can replicate our business model in other nations, while we already have UK Govt and Welsh Govt sponsorship, we were also invited to the Scottish Parliament to attend their Critical Minerals, Zero Carbon and Zero to landfill discussion in Jan 25. Spain & Italy mass tile production countries.
  • We can claim carbon credits for each tonne produced and there is Patent Box tax benefits with CT at 10% for 20 years.

The Ask

  • The company seeks an investment to purchase the capital equipment for 18,000 tn per year in exchange for equity.Plus an additional commercial loan is sought for working capital to support the establishment and commissioning over an 18 month timeframe
  • Plus an additional commercial loan is sought for working capital to support the establishment and commissioning.
  • Or an Investment for Equity and operate a Licence model to market and sell the production and product rights.

Images showcase the successful trial conducted by the manufacturer of specialised milling equipment, which effectively processed a shipment of 2 tonnes of porcelain tiles to meet the necessary micron size specifications.

The specified equipment boasts a production capacity of 5 tonnes per hour. Additionally, the manufacturer is providing a payment plan to facilitate the distribution of capital  payments.

Business Model

Two Supply Chain Opportunities

In the UK, we manage approximately 150,000 tonnes per year of clean material. We already have access to over 100,000 tonnes, which allows us to guarantee customers both the volume and quality of supply, ensuring consistency.

We also handle around 800,000 tonnes per year of used material, which represents only a small portion of the available product globally. There are waste management prospects for used supply, including collection hubs connected to a central processing unit (hub and spoke model).

Vertically Integrated

This approach enables us to operate efficiently at scale, thereby reducing costs and maintaining competitive pricing.

We have opportunities to fulfill high volume demands in the UK, as well as prospects to expand internationally, making this a highly scalable initiative.

We are currently in talks with CCR Energy following promising research from Cardiff University, which examines the blending of PORCEMENT powder with the 18 million tonnes of Aberthaw Fly Ash.

Versatile Product

We cater to both high-volume, lower cost products and higher-value, lower-volume niche products. Our discussions are ongoing with customers from both categories.

Our pricing for high-volume products is competitive with OPC and GGBS rates. We will start by producing and offering our powder at a competitive price, and we are aware that 50% of the market is inclined to pay a 10% premium for the environmental advantages, while some customers are open to paying even more.

A Skilled Team

Our team comprises professionals from business backgrounds, a Russell Group University, and a leader in low-carbon manufacturing. We possess the intellectual property, research, processes, expertise, and established relationships.
